BUYER/SELLER TIPS

Helpful Tip for a Seller

Preparing your property to sell.

As with other things in life, the first impression sticks. Make sure that the first impression that potential buyers have of your property is a good one.

Take a look at your property as if you were a potential buyer. Look at the outside and front entry. Is the paint around the door peeling? Are there weeds in the flower beds? Walk through your house with the same critical eye. Sometimes something as simple as cleaning up the extra clutter and simplifying can make a space feel larger and more welcoming.

If there are any repairs to be made, be sure they are completed before the house is shown. You don't want to give buyers any leverage to bring the price down due to incomplete repairs or remodeling projects.

If necessary, ask your real estate agent for their opinion of the property. They have experience looking at several properties and can often offer helpful advice in preparing your property for showing. You might also consider the advice of other professionals, such as landscape designers, of how to prepare your property to sell.
